Bernard Winsemius

Bernard Winsemius studeerde orgel bij Anthon van der Horst en Albert de Klerk aan het Amsterdams Conservatorium en beiaard aan de Nederlandse Beiaardschool in Amersfoort.

Zijn studies werden bekroond met de Prix d?Excellence voor orgel (1970) en beiaard (1971). De Vereniging Vrienden van het Concertgebouworkest verleende hem in 1971 de Zilveren Vriendenkrans.

Bernard Winsemius was jarenlang als docent orgel verbonden aan het Rotterdams Conservatorium en als docent beiaard aan de Nederlandse Beiaardschool. Hij vervulde tal van gastdocentschappen in binnen- en buitenland.

Hij is emeritus-stadsbeiaardier van Haarlem en Amsterdam en sinds 2012 actief als freelance beiaardier.

In 1981 werd hij samen met Gustav Leonhardt benoemd tot organist van de monumentale historische orgels in de Nieuwe Kerk te Amsterdam, een functie die hij nog steeds vervult.

Hij concerteerde over de gehele wereld en maakte tal van opnames op LP, CD en DVD.

Bernard Winsemius studied organ with Anthon van der Horst and Albert de Klerk at the Amsterdam Conservatory and carillon at the Dutch Carillon School in Amersfoort.

His studies were awarded the Prix d'Excellence for organ (1970) and carillon (1971). The Association of Friends of the Concertgebouw Orchestra awarded him the Silver Friends Wreath in 1971.

Bernard Winsemius was for many years an organ teacher at the Rotterdam Conservatory and a carillon teacher at the Dutch Carillon School. He has held numerous guest lectureships at home and abroad.

He is emeritus city carillonneur of Haarlem and Amsterdam and has been active as a freelance carillonneur since 2012.

In 1981 he was appointed organist of the monumental historic organs in the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam, a position he still holds, together with Gustav Leonhardt.

He has performed all over the world and made numerous recordings on LP, CD and DVD.
