Alexandra Bellamy

studeerde in 1991 af aan het Queen's College in Oxford met een BA in Muziek en studeerde vervolgens historische hobo bij Sophia McKenna en Paul Goodwin aan de Royal Academy of Music. In 1995 werd ze eerste hoboïste van het European Union Baroque Orchestra en sindsdien heeft ze gespeeld met alle belangrijke Britse historische orkesten, is ze te horen op vele bekroonde cd's en is ze een veelgevraagd eerste- en solohoboïste. Van 1999 tot 2008 was ze eerste hoboïste van The King's Consort en is te horen op de opnames van deze groep uit die tijd, met name als soliste op cd met Händels hobosonates. Ze is ook een regelmatig lid van Paul McCreesh's 'Gabrieli Consort', de kamergroep Florilegium, Arcangelo en Brecon Baroque met Rachel Podger. Andere hoogtepunten in haar carrière zijn tournees door Australië met het Australian Chamber Orchestra onder leiding van Richard Tognetti en tournees en opnames met het Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra.

In 1995 she was principal oboe of the European Union Baroque Orchestra and since that time has played with all the main UK period instrument orchestras, features on many award-winning CDs, and is much in demand as a principal and solo oboist. From 1999 ? 2008 she was principal oboe of The King?s Consort and can be heard on this group?s recordings from this time, most notably as the soloist on a disc of Handel?s oboe sonatas. She is also a regular member of Paul McCreesh?s ?Gabrieli Consort?, the chamber group Florilegium, Arcangelo and Brecon Baroque with Rachel Podger. Other career highlights have included tours around Australia with the Australian Chamber Orchestra directed by Richard Tognetti and tours and recordings with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra.
